Denture Technology Institute, Inc.

DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM

 

A CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY will be provided to each student who successfully completes 804 lecture/classroom, laboratory and internship hours.

 

PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND DENTAL HISTORY

(approx. 40 hrs)

Is the study of Dental History, Ethical and Legal aspects of the work environment including Asepsis, Infectious and Hazardous control.

 

INTRODUCTION TO MATH

(approx. 96 hrs)

Covers basic Math and Chemistry as related to the dental laboratory profession.

 

DENTAL ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY AND TERMINOLOGY

(approx. 96 hrs)

The study of the Oral Cavity, including Mastication, Histology, Osteology, Mycology, Form and Function.

 

DENTAL LABORATORY EQUIPMENT, DENTAL LABORATORY MATERIALS, TERMINOLOGY and TECHNIQUES

(approx. 96 hrs)

The study of introductory Laboratory Materials, and Equipment.  Includes Legal and Ethical issues related to the dental laboratory.

 

DENTAL LABORATORY PRACTICUM

(approx. 24 hrs)

This course gives students an opportunity to apply studied skills in the laboratory with the use of Dental Materials and Laboratory Equipment.

 

INTRODUCTION TO COMPLETE DENTURES and MATERIALS

(approx. 96 hrs)

The study of art and science in creating natural looking teeth.   Includes concepts of a natural smile, Selecting Teeth, Teeth Shading, Setting Denture Teeth, Waxing and duplicating natural tissue, Bite Registration Processing, Principles of occlusion, Finishing and Polishing dentures.

 

INTRODUCTION TO REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURES

(approx 96 hrs)

An introduction to the study of removable partial denture construction use of dental surveyor, design of the partial, design of the partial, waxing and casting techniques.

 

ADVANCED REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURES and TECHNIQUES

(approx. 36 hrs)

This course is the Fixed Prosthetic Specialist in the Dental/Denture Technology Program. This course incorporates Advanced Fixed and Flexible Soft Partial Dentures, design and modern manufacturing techniques.

 

LABORATORY INTERNSHIP and HUMAN RELATIONS

(approx. 144 hrs)

This is an opportunity to observe and work with Skilled Technicians Licensed Dentists and patients in a dental laboratory and office. This course also includes Seminar and Project.

 

DENTAL LABORATORY MANAGEMENT and INTERNSHIP

(approx. 80 hrs)

This course covers basic principles needed to Maintain Budget, Marketing work-flow, dentist/ technician and technician/ customer (patient) relation

 

 Total Hrs = 804

 

UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION FOR DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY WILL BE ISSUED TO THE GRADUATE.

 

Employment placement assistance will be available for the graduates of the Denture Technology Program.

Denture Technology Institute does not apply previous educational training credits     toward this certificate program.

 

Note: Students with a Final Grade of 70 %  or or below due to attendance or unsatisfactory work in any of the Denture Technology courses will be placed on probation and must arrange make-up assignments (if any) with the instructor of that course to continue the program.
